Slow Cooker Pinto Beans

Ingredients:

  • 16 ounces dried pinto beans

  • 2 smoked ham hocks

  • 1 tbsp seasoned salt, divided

  • 1 tbsp onion powder, divided

  • 1 tbsp garlic powder, divided

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

  • 1/4 cup liquid smoke

  • 5 cups water
     

Preparation:

  1. Place the uncooked dried beans in a slow cooker along with seasonings. Give it a good stir to combine. Place ham hocks on top of seasoned beans.

  2. Combine water, soy sauce, and liquid smoke and pour over the hocks and beans. You may need more water. You want the liquid to almost cover the meat,

  3. Cover slow cooker  and cook on low for 6 hours.

  4. When done, you may need to skim some liquid off the top, depending on your preference for the amount of sauce.

  5. Using two forks, shred the meat into the beans.
