“Angelina” Hot Chocolate

When planning our trip to Paris, everyone kept saying you have to go to Angelina on Rue de Rivoli and have the hot chocolate.  I have to admit that I had never really been a big fan of hot chocolate since my only real knowledge of the drink was the Swiss Miss with little marshmallows that Mom made.  I was not ready for the amazing deliciousness that was about to ensue!  This recipe is the closest thing I could find to the real thing, but let’s face it, there is something remarkable about stopping in after visiting the Louvre to have hot chocolate and a cake covered in gold.  Still, you have to try this!!

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup whole milk

  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

  • 1 teaspoon confectioners' sugar

  • 4 oz Callebaut Bittersweet Chocolate 72% (chopped).

Preparation:

  1. Combine whole milk, heavy cream and confectioners' sugar and heat over med-high till bubbles appear around edges.

  2. Remove from heat and add Chopped chocolate. Stir till melted (you may need to return it to low heat).

  3. Serve with whipped cream.
